What does being marginalized mean to you? Have you ever felt - or been made to feel - like you just don't fit? Like somehow, you're sitting on the outside, looking in and wanting to be a part of the bigger picture, when, for whatever reason you can't or aren't allowed to? We want to hear your voice. What has your experience been as someone who has been marginalized or had the sense of "not fitting"? You could be an athlete who knows that your skill set is better than intramurals but not quite strong enough for the school team - what then? You could be someone just finding your identity - whether that means you're two-spirited or LGBTQ+. You could be someone struggling with your mental health. You could be someone whose race or culture feels somehow excluded. What is your story? What keeps you going on a daily basis in spite of feeling marginalized? Where do you find your hope? How do you feel things have gotten better or will get better? We're looking for stories, original artwork, photos, poetry, videos - you name it - about your experiences. Work submitted will be collected and shared with other students and schools across SCDSB. Let us hear your voice! Any questions, or to arrange for physical art to be submitted, contact cstjean@scdsb.on.ca. Online submissions of text, video or image files: https://goo.gl/forms/vHYRn6bWElkBdCG52 DEADLINE APRIL 30th, 2018 **If you find you are triggered in one way or another regarding the process you're going through to create your submission, feel free to call the Kids' Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868 or via Live Chat Wednesdays to Sundays, from 6 pm to 2 am. |
